Cleaning up allergens - have I done enough?

I really hope you don't mind me posting this on the allergies board, but I'm figuring that posters here will have more knowledge.

I should probably mention from the off that I have OCD, and I'm not sure whether my concern over this is because of that or legitimate.

My dd has a boy in her class with an egg allergy. I gather it is raw egg especially, and I believe he has an epipen (but not certain).

So anyway - today I went to the shops and one of the things I bought was a box of eggs, which was in a flimsy plastic bag.

When I came in from the shops, I put my bags in the hallway, and having a slovenly day, didn't put my shopping away straight away.

A couple of hours later, when I went to put my shopping away, I realised that one of the eggs in the box of eggs had broken at some point since I had checked the box in the shop and I'd got it home. The egg box was soaked, and had been in the flimsy plastic bag on my carpet.

I couldn't see any obvious leaks on the carpet, but I'm worried about it in case there was some leakage that I can't see. I'm thinking my daughter may sit on the carpet in the hallway, or walk through it, and then take egg allergens into school on her shoes or clothes.

I've attempted to clean the carpet by going over it with my steamer, rubbing it with some andrex toilet wipe thingumies and giving it a hoover. Should this be sufficient to get rid of any allergens? Should I be doing more?

(I'm also hoping I haven't spread anything around the house before I realised what had happened as I have been lying on the sofa amongst other things - guess this serves me right for being lazy!...)

Sorry if this all seems deranged - if I am in fact being deranged, it wouldn't be the first time - just don't want to be reckless with another child's health.

Thanks.

No you're absolutely fine. My DD has a severe egg allergy, but this wouldn't matter. She might get a mild contact reaction if she touched raw liquid egg, but that's it. She's not going to come into contact with stuff on shoes or clothes. But thank you for worrying about it!
