Finding cause of reaction

About a month ago, I had a reaction to something (no history of allergies, I'm 31) which resulted in itchy eyes, lower jaw and neck, my lips got really dry and I also got a rash, not unlike eczema, around my eyes. Went to the doctors and got prescribed anti-histamines and a steroid cream for my eyes. After a few days everything cleared up.
Twice since then, it has flared up again and got the life if me, I can't figure out what's causing it.

I've ruled out foods (nothing new in my diet), cosmetics (haven't changed brand of anything) and I think I can rule out dust - when I got the first attack, I gave my room a deep clean, changed all the bedding and bought new pillows.

I'm at a loss now as to what it could be and it's driving me crazy, anyone any ideas??

I've read online about getting tested but it seems to be more food related and not readily available unless serious reactions are caused.

the list can be endless.
but 1st option is shampoo. as you shower and it runs over your face.
wash hair over sink or bath to keep soap/shampoo of face.

change shampoo to a clear, non perfumed kind.

Pollen - something could be flowering this month

Food - a normal brand may have a new recipe

Spores - a fungus could be doing whatever funghi do to repopulate

Thanks for the replies, I willchdnge my shampoo and see if it memes a difference. It's just a bit frustrating trying to pin the cause down when nothing seems to have changed in my mundane life!

Have you taken or used any new medication? I know if I take one of those thrush treatments in tablet form I get what looks like shingles on one side of my face and the rest of your symptoms too... This took months for me to work out the correlation though... It happened overnight each time.

I didn't really think it could be that as it's just one little tablet if you know what I mean.

Allergies can manifest at any age and it can take a while to work out what ting or things are causing them.

Check the labels of any foods as they may have changed their ingredients, also have you eaten more of one particular food than normal? Depending on the season where you are (I'm antipodean) there may be more pollen around on certain days which could cause it too.

Over here Your GP can refer for RAST tests which are blood tests for certain allergens (they generally need to specify which ones) or skin prick testing for a wider range of things. Perhaps request testing as reactions often get stronger with exposure (strangely there are ways if desensitising for some things by gradual buildup of exposure so it's a fine balance).

I hope this helps.

1lov, I have the same thing going on - random allergic reactions, very painful and long lasting. I now avoid face cleansers and nail polish as they are definite triggers. Now wondering if I am allergic to foods as well. It's awful.

Quick update - I changed to a hypoallergenic baby shampoo and am not using conditioner and also have changed face cleanser to a hypoallergenic baby lotion. All seemed to be going well for about 2weeks and then yesterday it kicked off again Sad
Back to the drawing board...

Is it the same day of the week as last time?

Have you re-visited anywhere (restaurant/friends house for food, garden or are for pollen)
