Coeliac Food Vouchers

Hi, I have been diagnosed with Coealic Disease for about 6 years and mostly get on fine now I have adjusted to it. Someone mentioned to me the other day that I was entitled to food vouchers or something? Would help bigtime as gluten free diet is certainly pricey!! It was never mentioned to me at the time and I dont want to go to the doctors and ask about it if this isnt actually the case as could be a bit embarrassing! If it is true though, what exactly am I entitled to and how do I go about getting it? Thanks in advance!

You get a prescription so it's not free unless you get free prescriptions. Check Coeliac.org for more info.

it varies from area to area, there are guidelines on what you are allowed but it really varies and some trusts have cut right back to a few absolute basics. but no it's not "free" although it can work out a lot cheaper if you buy a prepaid certificate which means you don't have to pay for any scripts when you get them.

if you are not a member of coeliac uk it's worth joining, you get a book that lists GF brands of everything.

if you have been diagnosed 6 years and never offered GF food, do you get ANY follow up/ongoing checks? bones scans, blood tests etc? Have your first degree relatives all been tested?
