Help! DS is allergic / intolerant to everything!

I have had a nightmare with DS since day 1. He's never slept through the night, and now at 18 months he's still waking 2 hourly with screaming episodes. We've been back and forth with dieticians and consultants. His weight is fine, but he just seems to be intolerant to so much! Currently he's off gluten, dairy, egg and soya. He had tests back when he was a year old and they all came back negative, but the consultant said that false negatives can happen, so we've kept him off everything.

It seems to be getting worse!

He used to tolerate a little bit of whatever he was allergic to, but now he can't tolerate anything - just discovered that Pom Bears, which he was pretty much living on, contain Soy as well. It's a nightmare! Also discovered that the majority of gf bread and gf pasta that we use contain egg or "may contain egg".

Has anyone else had a large list of allergies / intolerances that their LO has grown out of? What can I feed him as a staple?? Help help help. I'm so so exhausted by nights of screaming.

Hi SayCool, I'm sorry to hear you and your DS are having a hard time. The night wakings must be especially tough.

My DD is 17 months and she has grown out of some allergies, although I'm never sure if she truly grew out of them or they were false positives the blood tests through up.

Initially we had to avoid nut, penaut, dairy, egg, soy, wheat, exotic fruits, tomatoes and fish. It was hard and she lived off meat and veg. We got bread and pasta on prescritpion. She is now allergic to peanuts and nuts, dairy and egg so they can grow out of multiple allergies.

Has your DS had skin prick tests? They're meant to be more reliable than blood tests so that might be useful. We had to push for her to be seen by a specialist hospital and the care she's had has been great. Saying that though DD had a severe allergic reaction and so her case is a little different.

Re what to feed him can you strip his diet right back so you make all his food from scratch or get prescription items that don't contain his allergens? Then perhaps you could see if his symptoms disappear and build up from there. The Intolerant Gourmet has a great blog and recipe book and that's been really helpful for me in finding meals to make for DD.

I know others on here have more experience so I'm sure you'll get some great advice.
