17mo with allergies suddenly refusing all food - trying not to panic!

Hi. My son has eaten like a horse from day 1, never refused anything, only stopped eating if you limited his portions - a dream eater. Suddenly, overnight, he decided that he no longer wants to eat and this applies to almost anything except crackers and banana.

Background - he had mmr jab three weeks ago and at the same time as stopping eating he has also stopped sleeping through and can't get back to sleep without someone staying with him. Again, this is weird because even when teething all he would need was a quick back rub and a "shhhh" and he'd go straight to sleep again.

So, at the moment I don't know if this is a reaction to the mmr, or him testing me, but my main issue is trying not to panic about the lack of nutrients he is getting at the moment - he is allergic to dairy, soya, egg, peanut and tomato so it's already hard enough to make sure he gets a balanced diet.

Has anyone with a child who has allergies gone through the food-refusing stage? How did you cope?!

is he still drinking? If so, just increase whatever his main milk source is, and give abidec drops (vitamins) in one of the bottles a day. then just focus on getting calories into him - maybe go back to some basics such as baby rice. If he's also teething can you get him some sugar free rusks to gum on?

DS2 ate almost nothing for years. His weight was off the centiles (below where the chart started for his age.) He had huge problems feeding. I remember friends who'd had their first when he was born having second babies who weighed more at birth than he did a year on. Just telling you this to explain that they really can survive on very little so long as you are vigilant that what they get is top quality in terms of nutrients and as calorie heavy as you can make it. (Could you mash avocado in with the banana?)

DS2 is now 12, tall, chunky and loves his food.

Hi. He's still drinking but weirdly when I've put 200ml in a bottle instead of the usual 150ml he stops drinking and leaves almost exactly the 50ml difference! I dont know if he's teething as he isn't showing his normal signs of eczema, horrible nappies and dribbling, but he won't eat anything too soft so mashed banana is out - I'll give avocado a go on the crackers though and will try to have a think of other ideas. It's so hard not to worry about him missing out - i think the vitamins will be good to start on. Thanks.
