My allergic dd was given antibiotics as a newborn and I've always wondered if it made a difference. I don't now if anything could be done for people already sensitised.

Interesting article, I wonder if it applies to other allergies too and if it will lead to probiotic treatment for allergies.

This is also worth a read. mercola

My dd wasn't given antibiotics as a baby and has a peanut allergy. Did you see the Horizon program?

The Horizon programme last night was worth a watch

My DS was given strong antibiotics as a newborn and doesn't have any allergies (that we know of yet anyway, he's 5). So I don't think it's as clear cut as that.

I wonder (and have posted this elsewhere) if this gut imbalance can be passed from mother to child even if it has a much lower impact on the mother even to the extent that she presents with no allergies but the impact on an infant is much greater.

I wouldnt bother with mercola he is more than likely trying to sell prebiotic s on his website.
I cant remember when ds first had antibiotics as he had a few ear infections as a toddler. However I just think its down to genetics. Both dh and I have a few allergies. Ds just inherited the same allergies but dd has none of them
