dairy withdrawal symptoms?

I posted in AIBU but this is probably a better place to ask:

When I was young I was allergic to dairy (immediate vomiting on ingestion, hives, etc.) Gradually it was reintroduced when I was around 8/9. All good.

I've had chronic migraine for about 12 years -started after taking the combined pill but didn't improve once I stopped.

I did some reading and saw the link with intolerance, so thought I would check it out by going dairy free for several weeks.

I'm on day 4 and I'm a complete mess. Craving all manner of dairy products. Crying at the drop of a hat. Exhausted and sluggish. Two hellish Migraines on two consecutive days. Completely overreacted to bad behaviour earlier andended up sobbing that they'd all be better off without me! (I'm not usually depressive).

Could this be withdrawal symptoms or do I just need to pull myself together somehow?

Are you sure you aren't pregnant? Smile

Just ride it through. Get through the two weeks (it's only two weeks) and then see how you feel. You will be fine honestly.

What are you craving the most? We can maybe help you out with alternatives.

Definitely not pregnant Grin

Cheese is the biggest thing. I had an omelette today and really missed the cheese.

So you can have soya?

If so, from what I've read, this toffuti one from holland and barrets is one of the best

Cheese was the hardest for me too. But we are soya free too so the alternatives are very few, but you get used to it. I think for me it has been slightly easier because I'm doing it for my DD. I don't know if I'd have the will power to do it for myself. But really once you start it, you do get used it. And honestly after 6 months, I've stopped craving for cheese and milk (though sometimes do crave a Pizza Hut pizza Smile)

Thank you... Perhaps light at the end of a tunnel.

I have found that Earl Grey tea is surprisingly nice without milk. It's my favourite drink and I was feeling a bit down that I couldn't have it.
