Hoping some knowledgeable people on here can help.

I am self dx with an allium intolerance, is fairly obvious, eat garlic, severe stomach cramps and up to 24 hrs d (& sometimes v). Less severe reactions to other alliums, but still upset stomach.

However, I am starting to suspect it is not just alliums, and am wondering if there are any other food groups which are often linked to alliums when allergies and intolerances are present. This past week especially has been horrendous and I am fed up with it, but cannot see that I have eaten anything regularly. Maybe if I get an idea of things to look at, I may be able to see a pattern (and stop my dad going on about going gluten free. I have no problem doing so if needed, but dad is mooting it as a catch all solution, and I am not convinced)

Have a look at the FODMAP diet, it's made my life a lot less painful although it's not foolproof.

This blogger has a fairly comprehensive lists of foods to eat/avoid.

I am pretty much gluten free these days- I gave up bread/yeast after a horrendous time in Italy and now realise that life without it is far more comfortable. Being GF came long after starting FODMAP and going Lactofree. My personal worst trigger now outside of my already limited options is chilli and onion but if you can cope with a mild allium, then small quantities of chopped leeks are a reasonable substitute for onion in cooking.

I'm currently on an anti candida diet. The theory is that tummy bugs and consequential excessive antibiotics have damaged the lining of my bowel by allowing an overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria. I am trying to rectify this by starving them of yeast and sugar whilst taking probiotics to bring back the good ones that have been overpowered. Is it working? I have no idea but life without sugar is very hard!

Hope my rambling helps in some way Smile
