Wheat, dairy and egg free wraps anyone?

My DS has recently been put on wheat/dairy free diet (already egg and nut free)
The one thing that we are really struggling to get a replacement for are wraps. He has never eaten much bread, preferring wraps for packed lunches etc. we have tries the Warburtons ones (£3 for 3!!!!!) and he's not over keen, although he tolerates them.
Any others we can try try? Much appreciate any advice.

There's a recipe for them here: www.dovesfarm.co.uk/recipes/quick-flat-bread-tortilla-wraps/ not tried it but doves farm stuff is generally nice.

Would he like something like stuffed vine leaves instead? Or wheat free pasta salads, or pasties?

Make them. It's very easy. I've always used flour but proper tortillas should be cornmeal anyway.

I get some from Ocado called B free. DS likes them, and he is a bit picky!

Have you got the intollerant gourmet cook books? They are fabulous for gluten, egg, and dairy free recipes. There is a flatbread recipe, which is really nice, although not brilliant for wrapping, and actually a tortilla recipe, though I haven't made them, as I haven't been able to find the harina masa flour.

Thanks for the tips. We are a cooking household and tried making them first. Interesting and a lot of fun but thumbs down unfortunately! I've got the free from pasta and that will be his packed lunch for school every day with different home made sauces.
He cooks for himself a lot (he's 12) and just likes wraps as they're easy to wrap around fish fingers and chicken goujons.

I have seen some good reviews about the Bfree ones and Asda stocks them so I'll give them a try.

It's early days for us so thanks so much for the advice.
He did cheer up today when we discovered how many types of sweets he could still eat!

Just looked at that recipe from Dovesfarm and it's totally different to how we did them before. I'm inspired to give them a try in the morning. We've got the flour in already.
Thanks so much.

The Bfree ones are really nice - we griddle them and put all sorts of fillings in them.

Just for info, the new Genius gluten free puff and shortcrust frozen pastry is dairy free as well and is great. We made these today and they were fab (and it says you can substitute a dairy free cream) Smile.

Could you also use puy lentils, and add chopped veggies (and tuna or chopped meat)? DD takes that for lunch once or twice a week.
Could do the same with quinoa or rice?

Warburtons wraps are lovely and have revolutionised my life.

The are made in a factory that handles eggs though so not sure if that excludes them.

Superworm, thanks!!!

I've also bought an Indian dosa packet, which you just add water and oil to make pancake style wraps. They can be found in Indian food stores. I actually picked mine up from the ethnic section in morrisons.

Update: The BFree wraps are available in our local Asda and have recieved the thumbs up!
DH has also made some at home with the Indian flour and we all like them. They work well as an enchilada type wrap with different fillings and then cooked with a friendly sauce in the oven.
This is a big learning curve for us - thank goodness for this section of MN!
Thanks for all the suggestions.

We also love the BFree wraps - yummy!

Try cabbage leaves or lettuce leaves for wraps. Delicious.
