Need to try dd2 with milk

Hi everyone,

Dd1 is allergic to milk, eggs & nuts. Dd2 is now 6 months old and weaning...we have been told that dd2 won't be tested so how should I introduce these allergens? Dd1 took an anaphylactic reaction to yogurt when she is 6 months so I am extremely nervous about this Hmm

Have you spoken to the GP? Could they refer you to an allergy nurse, who can test for cows milk in the clinic?

Alternatively you could try possibly giving your LO something that has very little milk, like perhaps a biscuit that has a tiny bit of milk powder inside it?

There's a great book - 'complete guide to allergy and intolerance '.
There is a section on reintroducing or introducing suspect foods . I can't reccommend this book more highly , its helped me to 'get it' .

Thanks will try the book Grin

Haven't been to the gp as dd1's consultant said that they wouldn't test dd2 so I just thought that was that. I have spoken to my hv about it but I don't think they get how nerve wracking it is. It's all minimised Hmm

I guess you are bf -as if formula any allergy would have already shown .
Are you aware that allergens pass through breast milk and therefore your dd has jumped the first hurdle !
When I introduce a new food I eat small amounts of it myself and watch dd like a hawk. I am still bfding obvs !

Yes I am bf - she was a very sicky baby. This has improved recently actually. She is still sick throughout the day but not nearly as much. I did monitor her sickness and see if it was any worse when I had certain foods. I have had the occasional milky coffee and she has been exactly the same whereas dd1 would have been violently sick the following day.
