Red, itchy, flaky, stingy patches round eyes

Does this sound like some kind of allergy?

I have 3 small patches of red, flaky, sore, dry skin around my eyes. 2 on my right eyelid and one under my left eye, under the tear duct.

It's driving me mad. Haven't used anything at all new on my face. Don't wear much makeup and don't wear it often.

Any suggestions as to what I can use to ease it? Piriton doesn't make any difference.

Could it be eczema? Have you tried E45?

I've never had eczema, will google.

The only cream I've tried is cetaphil which stung like mad.

Will get some e45 tomorrow, thanks.

I had this for a few years... Drove me nuts, itchy at night and scratched in my sleep.
Do not use e45 it will may well it worse, chances are you do not have dry skin, but the redness and flakes are a sign of inflammation of the skin.

Avenno cream is a better bet, as is plain Shea butter or coconut oil. Otherwise mild steroid cream relieves the itching a bit, but you probably have to convince a doctor to prescribe a topical antibiotic.

If you want to try a dietary approach, wheat and sugars are responsible for inflammation of the skin, so cutting them out might help. But there is no quick fix I found.

vaseline for the dryness, tho if inflamed may need mild steroid like hydrocortisone.

Dermatitis? Do your eyes feel dry too? I had something I called dinosaur eyes (basically stress induced dermatitis causing exaggerated wrinkles) for 6 months. Wine and dehydration also made it worse. Betnovate sorted it out

I get this when worn out, particularly when doing early shifts when I have a bit time off and not yet back in the swing. Also similar on right eyebrow. Probably one pf those this for which there are many triggers though.
