Hi all I'm new here
Basically my son Is 16 days old and ebf for the past week he has gradually been getting worse with his feeds he's started to bring up his milk during and after every feed. He has at least three explosive poops every feed during and after which he gets very distressed about doing he also has terrible wind you van hear it bubbling about in his tummy and he is very upset with it constantly writhing about and pulling his legs up
Anyway we have tried colief and infacol as thought colicky windy baby hasn't.done a thing.
Took him to gp to be told.it's reflux and been given gaviscon which again not doing a thing for him
Was also told by gp that breastmilk doesn't contain lactose so there is no way he can be lactose intolerant. I know it does contain lactose.
I have cut all dairy from my diet as asked which has made no difference
Anyway my question is have any of you had experience with a breastfed baby and lactose intolerance. As I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track
Plus my daughter is lactose intolerant which wad diagnosed at approx 4 months
Sorry for long post very frustrated mummy

colief would have helped if it was lactose intolerance as it breaks down lactose in the milk (you are right that there is lactose in breastmilk as it is the sugar in all milks)

It could be lactose overload caused by oversupply of your milk

If your daughter is lactose intolerant as well I would request an urgent paed appointment - as you probably know lactose intolerance in a baby is a very serious issue. Your baby needs to be tested for it.

If it is dairy he is reacting to however, it can take a couple of weeks for it to clear entirely from your system.

If you do the trial and he reacts, I would push for a Paed appointment. You will probably want him allergy tested before weaning starts.

Have you seen this from allergy uk, not sure if someone has already posted the link.

Thanks for updating us and I'm so glad things have improved Smile

Well the drs tried him on normal formula and he reacted instantly he's being referred closer to weaning and monitor now by gp and hv
