Weaning advice for non allergic child with an allergic sibling

Hello Grin
Just looking for some advice about my dd2. She has no diagnosed allergies and aside from being a sicky baby has shown no symptoms that she has allergies. Dd1 is allergic to milk, eggs and nuts. We have been told that dd2 won't be tested which I find frustrating.

We don't have milk at home - we all drink soya milk and use it in cooking.

Dd2 is 24 weeks and we are weaning her at the moment. Can I use soya in her cereal and when cooking?

Thanks

My DS2 has pretty much the same allergies as your DD. when cooking for the whole family I use Soya milk but because DS1 and DD are not allergic then mostly I use cow's milk for them as it is better for them.

I don't think using soya for the whole family is bad but I think cow's milk is better for children so if DD2 is not allergic then maybe better to give her cow's milk?

If you are worried about your DD2 being allergic could you rub a tiny amount of milk on her arm and see if it comes up in hives? This is what I did to check DD was not allergic.

How badly allergic is dd1? If dd 2 was to swap spoons with break fast or crawl over dd1s bed wearing her lunch how would it affect dd1?

Tbh I'd probably keep using the soya as there's enough milk in stuff like cakes and biscuits etc that dd2 can have when her sister is at school to give enough exposure.

Dd1 has taken anaphylactic reactions to milk. Contact with milk would bring her out in hives. So it's not an option to allow dd1 to be messy with milk.

Is soya milk ok to use with such a young baby?

I would be wary of too much soya milk tbh. Apparently a child drinking soya gets the same extra oestrogen as 5 birth control pills. It's not recommended for male children at all due to this as can really affect testosterone produced and growth

Have you considered oat milk?

Soya milk is fine in both sexes from 6 months up but not before. Difficult family situation I appreciate. Anyway to do bfast separately for a bit? Difficult I know. But just until second child gets the hang of it?if using oat milk please please use calcium fortified?

Thanks Grin

Hoping to bf until she is 2+ so that's fine. Will get oatly for porridge etc in the meantime then switch to soya in a few weeks.
