How accurate are skin prick tests?

DD was tested at 7 months and came up positive for cows milk (5 x 4). Re-tested 3 months later and there's nothing! Also no reaction to soya, nuts or fish.

Dietician said I should re-introduce dairy gradually (first a biscuit, then baked good etc).

How likely is it that it has really gone? (Still can't believe it!). Until now I was partially attributing my baby's hourly wakings at night to it, so a bit stumped now! Shock

Who tested him, was it at an allergy clinic such as Guy's hospital?

Hi Skin prick tests are a bit 'hit and miss'. Mainly they point you in a direction. And they don't show intolerance's; they show allergies. So if it 's a gastric reaction then could still be milk. Also baking changes the protein structure so might be okay with baked goods but not 'raw' milk like ice cream and well..milk. Give it a try - if nothing gets worse then it's not a problem.
