Does anyone use this cream everyday? Aveeno does the job but there are some bad red patches, not dry patches, more like angry red ones on dd knees. They clear up when I use a little bit of this for a certain amount of days but as soon as I stop they come back.

i use it for around 7 days, then taper off the usage over a couple of days.

it shouldnt be used everyday. if they keep coming back even with the aveeno, it may be worth asking for something else.

Thanks Misdee but to be honest the Aveeno is heaven sent. We tried so many creams before Aveeno and they really aggrivated her skin and not just those patches either. Plus the Aveeno has cleared her face up since we've been using it. She does however have one angry patch on her face that comes and goes with her teeth. Do you know if the hydrocortisal can be used on the face?

Back when i was a child (a long long time ago ) i was subscribed a much stronger steroid for my face.

I have often mentioned on here how bad steroids are because i started to develop white patches which some docs diagnosed as vitiligo and others as thinning of the skin by steroids. This was all many moons ago.

Interesting new light is shed on this now as i have even more severe white patches where i have ezcema also even though i don't use steroids. A consultant has said it is vitiligo brought on by the ezcema and nothing to do with the steroids! so get this - he's prescribed steroid creams to be applied for 3mths to attempt to bring back some of my skin pigment.

On the otherhand, where i have ezcema he has told me to not use the steroids for more than 4 days at a time!?!?!

But i agree with misdee, you really need to wean the skin gently off it, and in my experience 4 days isn't long enough to 'cure it' and keep it at bay.

As a child and teenager i used steroids every day of my life - would definitely try not to do that now, but the sking definitely gets used to it and then suffers if you stop suddenly.

for dd1 i used 0.5% hydrocortisone, or canasten HC cream(she gets cradle cap type eczema in her eyebrows, so dermo perscribed this)

Thanks for that, hopefully now our weather is a bit cooler her face and knees will calm down as well.
