How long to see benefits of neocate?

Hi all, wondering if anyone has experienced trying out neocate.
My LO is 6 months next week and has terrible eczema along with reflux. I was referred to the local sick kids hospital for her eczema and was given various ointments along with the advice of trying out neocate.
She's been on it for 2 full weeks and I'm wondering when I would see any improvement in her eczema? I don't see much of a difference in the past 2 weeks, in fact she had a bad flare up this week and I've had to go back to using steroid ointments for a week.
I'm not too happy to just assume that this is a cows milk allergy and have her missing out on dairy when I wean her. Obviously I'm prepared to give the neocate/dairy free diet a shot, but I'm eager to know when any benefits would be evident!
Thanks in advance.

Sorry can't help but sympathise and watching with interest as I have just switched to infasoy to see any difference to my dd's reflux and severe eczema by eliminating dairy. Our referral to dermatologist isn't until feb and not back at gp til 8th jan, but want to go armed with some evidence / back up for hydrolysed milk on prescription to try.
On one of my posts someone commented that we wouldn't see much improvement to the eczema for a couple of weeks, but tummy troubles should improve within days.
HTH

Good luck purpledana. I'm really lucky to have been seen by the dermatologist I must say. My LO's reflux hasn't changed (she's on omeprazol which helps). Her puke is just more watery and smelly on neocate lol!!!

My son went onto Neocate because although I'd been dairy free when ebf'ing he still had some symptoms of allergy. His symptoms started to improve but his eczema didn't actually START until he went onto Neocate. No-one's really given us a decent suggestion as to why.
We're sort of in the same boat as you - he's had skin prick tests which showed up positive to egg and peanut, but the dairy one was negative so they reckon it's a delayed onset allergy, but as he had the tests before we started weaning, he's on a fairly restricted diet based on only anecdotal evidence. I'm not that happy about it - all the symptoms he had when he was tiny COULD have been outgrown just because he matrured, and might not have anything to do with a dairy allergy.
Sorry - no advice so wasn't helpful at all was it!
Did she have any other symptoms that suggested dairy allergy, that have improved since going onto Neocate?

longer than 2 weeks, can take 4 or more before gut problems start to heal.

I would give it 6 to 7 weeks before deciding that its not working.

Thanks all. The only difference I've noticed is her nose is less blocked, but she did have two colds just before going on it so not sure if it's a coincidence!
I'll try it for a full 2 months, hopefully by that time I'll see a difference (or not!) I really don't want her missing out on cheese etc when she's ready to eat it when she might not even have an allergy!!!

We saw an improvement in the reflux symptoms quickly, within 3 days though it still took a long time (around 2 months) for his gut to heal fully and appetite to return but the eczema didn't start to clear up for around 6 months and our dermatologist said it was unlikely that the dairy was the cause of it...

It took us a long time to see results, about 6-8 weeks. Even then I wasn't sure I hadn't imagined the whole allergy, but giving my LO yoghurt once soon confirmed it was true!

Babybarrister - yeah I know, going to ask for hydrolysed formula at next gp appt, but felt I needed to at least try something else. Thanks tho.
Looks like we'll be in for a bit of a wait til our dc's stop suffering and get better op :-(
