DD seems constantly itchy ever since she was left with a rash after a viral inf. one doc said its excema, another said just dry skin & to keep moisturising, and over the past month another doc has suggested as i walked out of his office that maybe we look to see if we have any allergies in the family (which we cant as DH doesnt know his biological parents)

We have cream for DD's itching, but surely its not right for her to have itchy arms and legs 2 months on???
Can anyone offer any advice where we start when looking for allergies? We are stumped as allegies isnt something DH and I have a clue about. tia

how old is dd?

could it be to do with the heat?

DS (17mths) is itchy/red atm. It came up with the heat a few months ago. DD was the same when she was the same age. She's not affected now.

aquous is rubbish. where abouts is the rash?

try aveeno, mumsnetters swear by this.

mothballs · 17/07/2006 14:33

she 19 mo, it definatley seems to aggravate her more in the heat

the rash is always on her legs and arms (when she doesnt scratch it, it just feels like a bad case of dry skin) but when she scrathes it turns into white nettle like hives and becomes very red and angry in the matter of minutes. last night however she was up crying because her neck and top of chest and neck leading up to her face a little was very very ithcy, and it still is today, the rash on her neck etc does seem heat related though, unlike the one on her legs and arms

it does sound to me like eczema. is it bad in the creases? does she have anti biotics recently? if yes, you could tryu re-balencing her gut flora with some probiotics.

mothballs · 17/07/2006 15:32

its doesnt seem worse in the creases, but she did have antibiotics when she had viral infection, can penecillin start excema?

some people think that it can. probiotics wont hurt, but may make a good difference

dd1 eczema is always worse after illness.
