The only one that works for us is the Body Shop - apparently its the only one on the market which is vegetable-based

I've no idea if that's true but it's the only one we hvaen't had a problem with

littleducks · 09/07/2006 12:03

I was reading about organic sunscreens which supposedly are less likely to cause allergic reaction as they are "natural" not sure if true but i have ordered one to try, there are suggestions and reviews here

Rickman- the gp cannot refuse if your child has severe eczema. DO you claim dla for them?

tris20 · 11/07/2006 20:51

Hi misdee - sorry just seen this - ds1 was fine with Proderm last year and yet he too has reacted this year - I've just got another one that was recommended by the eczema soc - Vichy capital soleil spf 50.
It was the one on the list that didn't have physical blockers or chemical whatsits in it.
We've previously tried E45, SOLTAN, simple and any other ones that say they're for sensitive skin but htey all react horribly on ds. I bought mine through ebay. HTHs

aviatrix - thanks for that link - v thought provoking. SInce my msg on here early in July we found that ds1 reacted to the Vichy cream too (As well as all the others we'd tried). We reverted back to Proderm (Bergaderm) but have stopped putting any on his legs which seemed to react the worst. We figured that you rarely get burned on your legs and the risk of burn/later melanoma was outweighed by the severe discomfort he was getting by putting suncreams on.

try these people, they're fab

Frizbe · 13/08/2006 20:13

Haven't read all of the thread, but you may want to go to the quacks, who will refer him to your local dermatology dept at the hospital, as you can get free perscription suncreams for people who react/have problems with them (you just have to prove it obviously!)

Frizbe · 13/08/2006 20:17

oh have scanned thread now Hi Misdee and waves! hope things are going ok with Peter home now?
Bet your fed up of hospitals and the like and here's me recommending you pop down and get Dermatology involved......sorry! but its a good bet they'll find out which one would be best for you! you can get proderm on perscription round here if you need it too....(wonders if they've changed the formula a bit in it?)

Hi,

I've skimmed what the others have said, but we use Sunsense and DD has severe eczema. So far have no reaction to it and is available on prescription.
