Yes, the actual bottle has to be 100ml max too, I took a 200ml bottle that was less than half full through security and it was retained. HTH

ggirl · 28/10/2013 21:34

oh bugger ..it's a 150ml bottle
will have to put in hold

OP posts:
AtAmber · 28/10/2013 21:36

Can you buy some when you have gone through security?

ggirl · 28/10/2013 21:37

yeh , i will , why doesn't it come in small bottles?

OP posts:
r3dsquirrel · 28/10/2013 21:37

You can take larger bottles of medications if accompanied by a doctors letter

ggirl · 28/10/2013 21:38

I have letter but it only mentions epipen

OP posts:
mousmous · 28/10/2013 21:38

I took a larger bottle once, but had the prescription with me. but better check with the airline as those things change all the time.
we switched to tablets from 4yo, as they are easier to transport.

ggirl · 28/10/2013 21:39

tablets don't work quickly enough when ds needs it

OP posts:
ilovepowerhoop · 28/10/2013 21:40

could you get an empty 100ml bottle and decant some piriton into it?

Ds changed from liquid to tablet anti histamines a couple of years ago. He was told to chew them at the allergy clinic. They said they act much more quickly. It's much easier to carry tablets than a big bottle.

ggirl · 28/10/2013 21:44

which tablets ? I'm all for changing if they work as quickly

OP posts:
ggirl · 28/10/2013 21:45

just normal piriton tablets or do they do chewable

OP posts:
TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/10/2013 21:45

Yes, decanting into a 100ml bottle (or 2 100ml bottles) should be fine

It's the container size that counts, not the quantity

Seems completely arbitrary but worth filling the rules. You can take several 100ml bottles in one ziplock bag

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/10/2013 21:46

"Filling" = following

mousmous · 28/10/2013 21:48

the tablets are very small and a bit chalky.
dc takes them with a spoon full of juice.

AtAmber · 28/10/2013 21:48

Ds has always had cetirizine, he had the liquid from when he was 4, and tablets from 12. He's never had piriton.

AtAmber · 28/10/2013 21:50

Sorry, I should have said they're not special chewable ones. He has the normal ones and was told to crunch them up really well.

Oh I'm panicking now. Do you think you should check with the allergy clinic before you do that? I've just checked with ds and he said the pills start working after a minute or so when he has a reaction. He reacted to something in France in the summer even though they assured us there were no nuts in it. It was a bit scary as we were in the middle of nowhere but he was fine with just the pills. Where are you going? Have you got those little cards you can print off listing what your ds is allergic to?

ggirl · 28/10/2013 22:35

well i am taking the liquid anyway so we'll be ok
i had those translation cards ..had them in loads of languages ( we've travelled a lot with ds) but can't bloody find them >
We're going to France. DD is doing her 3rd yr abroad at uni there.
Shall have a hunt again for the cards.

AtAmber · 28/10/2013 22:37

I couldn't find our cards in France. I thought I must have left them at home. I found them weeks later tucked into the pocket of my kindle!

ggirl · 28/10/2013 22:47

Bloody Hell I found it!!!!
