Dairy intolerance - is testing advised?

DD (5) was diagnosed with dairy intolerance after an exclusion diet. 3 times we reintroduced dairy and 3 times symptoms ( diarrhoea and stomach pains ) returned. GP says this is conclusive evidence of intolerance but should she have some kind of 'proper' test? Advice please!

There is no conclusive proof, particularly when it comes to intolerances. My DS is allergic to milk wheat eggs and nuts and has had skin prick and blood tests but they only give an idea of the likelihood of an allergic reaction they are not foolproof. Sometimes allergy tests can come back high risk for foods that people can eat without problem yet other foods can show a low risk result that in fact cause severe reactions. The most reliable proof is history of reactions so your GP is talking a lot of sense (which in my experience is quite rare when it comes to allergies and intolerances).

We had blood tests and skin prick tests but the intolerances have been diagnosed by the peads consultant through a exclusion diet, food diaries and discussion of symptoms.
