My now 12 mth old ds had a reaction (hives) to all dairy and egg from 5.5 mth when we started weaning. The gp said it was a dairy/egg allergy and told us to eliminate them which we did.

We've given him nothing of either since. We're on the list for allergy testing but the gp said to try him with both now in case he's grown out of the allergy.

He reacted to milk still so that's still there, however, we tried him with a homemade banana muffin today that had egg in. He ate a big bite and has not reacted to the egg.

We are clearly overjoyed but want to take it slowly. My question is, what do we do now? Do we slowly offer cooked egg in things before trying things like scrambled egg?

Any experiences would be gratefully received. Thanks

I think I would be tempted to ask the GP for a referral to a dietician (especially as the milk allergy does still seem to be there) and as soon as an appointment comes through (presumably it will be a bit of a wait!) ring the hospital and ask if you could speak to the dietician directly for some advice before the appointment. I don't know what the advice would be but I think I would feel better with some medical help in your situation. I know the allergy testing hasn't been done yet but, if you have already eliminated eggs and milk, it would seem sensible for you to have a dietician's referral anyway!

Sorry, I know that might not be all that helpful in terms of what to do but I know from my own experience that it's really hard to know if you're doing the right thing. I found it helpful to be able to ask the dietician all the questions that were buzzing around inside my head! Smile

That's great advice, thank you! It's so hard with allergies, as the last thing we want to do is make ds poorly. I will get on the phone in the morning!
