Aveeno - best one for facial rash?

Can any aveeno users out there advise on the best on for a facial rash on a baby? I have the basic Aveeno Cream from Boots but am not sure if it is the best one or suitable for baby's faces? Do some versions have zinc oxide in them (sudocream helped rash but made skin too dry)

thanks alot
alice

Hi there I use the Aveeno on my dd. It's the green and cream tube with oatmeal. Took about two weeks but cleared her face up lovely.

thanks - sounds like the same one
Does it help with rashes, or just dry skin?

what sort of rash is it? if it is a dry skin or eczema problem aveeno is great but if it is a temporary thing caused by a virus I don't think it will do much THB.

jasperc163 · 09/06/2006 10:25

It is eczema, but its more at the sore red spotty stage than weeping dry stage if you know what i mean.

Aveeno hasn't made much difference to ds' rash (think a heat induced eczema) and am now trying E45 Itch relief but not sure it is suitable for babies.

donnie · 09/06/2006 10:28

I have found with dds eczema that aveeno will manage the skin very well but if she has a flare up she does need the steroid cream to calm it down properly. Do you have steroid cream? the heat has also made her react, sadly.

Same here. Aveeno on her face gave her that lovely baby skin again. But patches on her knees have needed a little help from perscription creams. And otherwise I use Silcocks Base on her legs. She goes to bed oily I put so much on, I lash it all over her, except face when I'm putting her into the bath and I use it to wash her. If they're bad patches on face you might need something stronger. Poor little things, it can be so uncomfortable for them. Does anyone else's lo get patches on cheeks when teething?

Has anyone used the baby range?

Thanks!

Hi Jasper - we used Aveeno on our ds face - it worked wonders clearing up his cheeks, and now use it to moisturise and manage his skin. Have needed some other creams from Drs for behind knees though.

Ask the Dr to prescribe Aveeno - they should no problems - it is expensive after all, might as well get it from Dr. and not have to pay.

anchovies · 11/06/2006 22:25

Jasper - we use the lotion on ds's face, we just slap it everywhere. He never really had bad eczema though, just a rough, slightly spotty face and it cleared it up a treat.

Hollyboo · 11/06/2006 23:23

Anchovies I got it sent home from US. Couldn't get it here(Ireland)
After saying how well Aveeno works dd has two big red rashes on her face nowSad has to be her teeth. Anyone else's lo get this when teething. She's scratching her face as well.

hi my 3 wk old dd2 has red raised spots on her face mostly her forehead but cheeks and chin as well as some on her head. they look like red spots with a white head. i took her to docs who said it was excma and prescribed aveeno cream. but i think it has made it worse. but it is only 2nd day of using it. does it get worse before it gets better with the cream? i was worried the spots were because of sma gold formula but are they just normal for a newborn to get? if anyone could help i would r appreciate it im worried her face looks so sore. x

Hollyboo · 17/06/2006 18:20

Sorry jeanini dd didn't have spots, more of a rash. I did find with the different creams we used that if there was a reaction ,it was almost immediate, Aveeno doesn't work for everyone. DD did get some white heads from her formula though. Keep bumping this thread because I got lots of advice from MN when I found out that dd had eczema. Someone is bound to have had the same problem somewhere along the line. I was told that reactions to certain formulas can appear as rashes or spots on the skin. Hope it all works out.
PS Did the doctor mention baby acne at all? My friend's lo had this and it cleared up in a few weeks. Just when you say spots, maybe...

pops3 · 17/06/2006 18:30

all my daughters had these spots. They come typically at aroung three weeks and usually start clearing at about 6 weeks. Although they look a bit alarming they are nothing to worry about and are caused by hormones

jeanini · 18/06/2006 09:53

yes it is a rash with raised red spots with a white head. i will carry on using the aveeno cream . it does look like acne. the doc said it was eczema but im not sure. and reading some of your comments i think it could be caused by hormones. x
