Does your DC react to the thing they are intolerant to after seeming fine with it for a couple of weeks? If so, is that because its related to building up a certain level / threshold before reacting? If so, what do you do? Avoid completely or give small amounts and try to stay 'under' the level that brings on symptoms?

We've reintroduced dairy to DD who's got IgE allergies to various things which we just avoid completely obviously, and an intolerance type allergy to milk protein. After being fine for nearly three weeks, with a fair bit of raw milk included, she's had a few days of poor appetite, not being herself and today explosive nappies which was how she's reacted in the past (though with tummy pain and night waking which are absent this time). Hard to know if it's linked or caused by something else, but is it possible they could be linked??

Any ideas appreciated.

I don't know... Maybe these things do build up over time? Maybe they are related to general health at the time, e.g. fighting off a cold or some random other bug?

Sometimes DS has seemingly random reactions to things he is normally okay with. For example, he was violently sick (mucousy, allergic-style sick) after eating cucumber the other week, when he had been eating cucumber with no problems for months. He is mildly allergic to melons, and cucumber used to give him hives when he was a baby - I thought he had grown out of this one but it seems to come and go.

I realise I'm talking about allergic reactions here, rather than intolerances, and that I'm not being much help. How is your DD now?

Thanks greenbananas - and for replying despite me pressing post too soon and ending up with a cryptic 'unknown' thread line Blush

She is fine now ta... and my DH developed a poorly tum a couple of days after her which made me extremely happy as I assume that's what she had and we can go back to where we were with the milk reintroduction. DH not hugely impressed by my lack of sympathy and glee at his predicament!

They are a puzzle sometimes these atopic little people! Hope your DS has settled down too with his odd cucumber reaction x
