My dd had a milk allergy when she was a baby she was on the nutramigen aa and that calmed her symptoms down. When she turned one dr said to try cows milk again to start off she was ok but then it all went pear shaped her eczema is at it's worst no matter how strong the steroid cream is it doesn't help. We are seeing a peadetrician in aug but I was wondering what can I give her as a replacement to cows milk. Thank you Smile

How is she with soya? My dd loves alpro 1+ which is suitable from a year.

Or you could see if your dr will continue with prescription :)

I haven't tried soya yet I was thinking about the alpro 1+ but I started googling and it put me off. I can't wait till the appointment because her skin is terrible. Do you give it as a main drink?

I use goats milk for my dd who also had eczema (she's 16 months). She flares occasionally (if she's sick or if we use sun cream) but she doesn't seem to flare to the goats milk. Alpro sounds interesting although we've not tried it yet.

Yes it's suitable from six months in cooking and a year as a drink. It's formulated to be in line with cows milk in regards to fat and vitamins etc. dd2 has had no problems with it had it from about 13/14 months. She's 2.6 now :)

And her skin is lovely :) I also cook with kara coconut milk (another milk suggested by dietitian )

I haven't tried goats milk but when you look up about any milk there is always something negative about it. It's just so confusing because I just don't know!
The only thing about the soya is the sugar content in it. But then why would they make something suitable from 1yr if it wasn't suitable?

It is quite sweet but then cows milk also contains sugar (lactose). As long as your careful with frequency ie its given at a set time once or twice a day as opposed to walkin around with it in a bottle sipping at it over hours then its not a huge problem. Some drs will prescribe milks up tip age two so honestly, if you are uncomfortable with the alpro option you can always ask the drs :)

There is a lot of negative things about every single food known to man and every milk alternative. Including cows milk.

I would view my dd as a success story of this milk. She is hardly ever ill her skin is lovely and so is her hair. :) honestly don't be afraid to pick up the phone and ask to speak to your dr what he feels is best. :)

Where's my caffeine drip: thank you so much for your advice I am very grateful. It was such hard work to get the nutramigen when she was younger as it is expensive and the drs were reluctant to prescribe it. So I don't think they will give it again. I am going to try the alpro soya today and give it a few weeks to work. Hopefully the hospital will be helpful. Thanks again Smile

I hope your dd gets on ok with it :)

I saw a dietitian at around the same age as your dd and alpro 1+ and kara coconut milk (now koko) were the two options she gave me. So if she turns out not to be in with soya then you could always try the koko. The koko is slightly lower in fat though but that's easy to make up in the diet.

I have my fingers crossed for you :)
