... were you able to reintroduce it into your own diet afterwards?

I've been off dairy and egg for over a year since DD2 was diagnosed. Only 1 or 2 very minor slips - have felt ill after each one. Then today, DH & I ordered same sandwich at lunch. I was given one and told it was the dairy free one. DH & I were talking & I didn't really check the sandwich like I usually do, and it was only as I was swallowing the first mouthful that I realised it was loaded with cheese.

My stomach started cramping about an hour later & I've been running back and forth to the toilet all afternoon.

Could I be reacting to the cheese? Is that even possible with a small amount? It's the only thing I can think of - especially as I realise I've felt queasy after the small slip ups before.

I've never been a huge cheese fan, but I've craved it terribly since I gave up. The thoughts of giving up bf hopefully in the next couple of weeks and still not being able to eat dairy is very frustrating!

I think you can get a temporary lactose intolerance after being off dairy for a while. Introduce it back into your diet very slowly and your body should readjust.

It didn't happen to me but I was off dairy for 6 months, so less time than you.

I was off dairy for 2 years and suffered no ill effects reintroducing it.

I eliminated dairy for a year and then went right back to it with no problems. In your case I'd try and reintroduce very slowly.
