I am so pleased I have found this board. Thank you for those who pointed it out to me.

I was very upset about some responses posted on an AIBU thread I started - I really just wanted to know who I should write/speak to in school after my daughter was given something she was allergic to.

However, I was so heartened by so many more helpful replies.

Thank you

Didn't see your initial thread but I'm having a similar issue with nursery doing the same. I've had lots of great advice from here. You were brave posting in AIBU Grin

Welcome MyNameIsRio. Glad to hear we're nicer than some of the scary people on AIBU! I've never posted on there as having read some of the comments I simply wouldn't want to risk it! There is so much help, support and advice on the Allergies board that over the years it's really been a life saver for me and my family.

MyNameIsRio, glad you came ever here. I was quite saddened by some of the responses to your post in AIBU.

What did you decide to do in the end? Hope all goes well.

I think these allergy boards have saved my sanity on may occasions, and the information I found here probably saved DS's life before he was properly diagnosed. There is so much support and helpful advice here, and lots of parents who are going through the same sorts of experiences.

Thank you again.

I wrote to the head teacher - asking him to remind all staff, of my daughter's allergy and asking him if the information was displayed prominently in the staffroom.

No reply.

It is tricky.

My brother is almost 45 and has a severe allergy to peanuts. My mother is nearly 80. If we all go out for a meal, my mother STILL asks the staff about my brother's food and and explains about his allergy! I do not want to be like this, but I do want to protect my lovely daughter.

have you forwarded a copy of the letter to the school goveners?

I have just read your ABIU post and I'm ShockShockShock I would like to say the ignorance is unbelievable but it isn't unfortunately.

Neither your child or the teacher concerned are at fault here. The school should have policies and procedures in place to account for all situations, supply teachers, tea parties, lunches - whatever. It is their responsibility.

I have spoken to ofsted about a similar thing happening to DS. Apparently they have 20 days to reply if you write in. It's not unreasonable at all to want a written response. If its not written down, it didn't happen, as they say. You may need it as evidence if it continues to happen.
