Any dairy, egg, nut, soya and wheat free breakfast cereals out there or am I asking too much?

I LOVE cereal and as a result of EBF, bottle refusing baby who is allergic to all the above I'm also cutting them out of my diet.

So please help me find something I can have. Is Oatbix Ok? Or rice crispies?

If there are non what on earth do you do for breakfast? Fruit and more fruit???

There's plenty but some do depend on whether you risk the 'may contain' and 'not suitable for' categories. It also depends on the manufacturer. Also depends on which type of nuts or whether it's all.

Rice Krispies
Cornflakes
Jordans Fruit Crisp (contains Hazlenuts) in fact check out all the Jordans because there's a few that are wheat free
Multigrain shapes
Porridge (maybe not at the moment though!)
Some Oatibix
Coco Pops

The thing is you don't have to hit the free from aisle. Enjoy your breakfast!

Any good?

Januarymadness · 20/06/2013 21:44

Whats wrong with porridge eat the moment?

Sorry I have nothing interesting to add. Dd is peanut allergic and I have a few close friends who have cut things out of their diet (gluten, dairy, eggs etc) and found great health improvements so I am just nosey interested in various "free from" tips.

SanityClause · 20/06/2013 21:51

BTW, I get these from Ocado.

Our family has to avoid all the things you do, except for nuts (although we have some extras not on your list). It is a bit tricky, but you get better at it.

If its not just wheat, but also gluten, you need to avoid oats, as well, but Alara do some good mueslis, as wellas plain oats.

HelloBear · 20/06/2013 22:59

Thanks! Think for now have to avoid anything possibly to so with nuts as possibility of sever reaction.

Will look at the ones suggested!

I would say porridge with a dairy alternative milk ie oat milk/ coconut milk. Easiest option and can add seeds/ honey/ fruit.
If you soak over night you can have cold

mum2twoloudbabies · 21/06/2013 06:58

Just me then with the porridge! I only eat it in the winter I need a cold breakfast in the summer don't know why.

I had to avoid all the same ones as you when bf my ds, best thing to do is get comfy pull up an online supermarket site and just trawl the cereal aisle checking them all. Although they're not always 100% accurate they're usually ok.

Bought 'Keep Me Going' at the Vegetarian show at Olympia a couple of weeks ago - low Gi, low sugar, low salt, high fibre etc. Loved it, especially with fresh fruit and yoghurt. Don't know where you can buy it though www.keepmegoing.net
