I don't know if there's a travel page but this seems a friendly board so I've posted here,
holiday soon that will be travelling about in Europe, dd is 7mo and a 'good eater' blw finger food styly. BF so that bit's easy. But allergic to dairy and I think soya. We're planning on having lots of picnics but I'm now panicking she'll be eating only bread and fruit and I don't think that's very nutritious! We'll be using backpacks so can't take a suitcase full of food! Oh and we don't really eat meat

Please help me with food ideas? also any packing essentials? How to combat restaurants?

Tia x

Milk will be her main source of nutrition, as you're bfing you should be topping up with a vitamin anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about solids and nutrition when you're on holiday.

Is she ok with egg? You could make a frittata style thing and cut into slices for her to munch? At least that gets the protein in, could also try homemade goujons of fish? Most kids like esp if dipped in a little ketchup :) and veggies obv. Cold baby pots and you have a meal!

Packing essentials:definitely piriton. If you're planning on taking the full bottle on the plane then you'll need a doctor's note. Some people decant into smaller bottles, but definitely take spare in your suitcase.

You can get allergy translation cards, haven't bought any myself to recommend, but try googling.

If she's mostly bf then I wouldn't worry if she eats only bread, fruit and veg for a couple of weeks. Food is just for fun before 1, or so they say!

Egg, ham, chicken for protein? Just watch ham & chicken, though, as sometimes, for some stupid processing reasons, they use milk!!

dairyfreebabyandme · 02/06/2013 00:42

Sorry, just reread post no ham/chicken. Do you eat tuna? Is she ok with hummus (chickpeas, sesame)?

Thanks, egg ok, and she likes it so that's good, lots of fruit and bread. I'm going to look into those cards!!
