Basically my 19 month old is allergic to dairy, egg, soy, sesame, peanut/treenut, and lentils.

He has been eating oranges for a long time with no issues however I bought some from m&s the other day and he broke out in hives!
Is it possible to be allergic to one type of orange?? eg mandarin but not tangerine??

The wonders of Google are no help in this situation. Sighs and retreats to corner to watch

Depends on how different they are. I think it may be possible.

Had it been a while since he last ate any? Or he hasn't had a break eating them regularly? I just wonder if an allergy can fluctuate as DD seems more sensitive at times to others (she gets stomach pains with citrus but craves it so has it now and again!)

Hi my daughter 2.5 has a peanut allergy, twice she has eaten mandarins and has gotten huge welts under her eyes, nothing on her fingers or lips. Allergist knows of this and im hoping next month with her annual appointment will test her. She has eaten oranges and never had any reaction but i do try not to give them to her as i dont really know the difference between them. Seem the same to me, shall post what he tells me about mandarins.

I think new allergies can develop at any time, so wouldn't surprise me (sorry). Then again, could have been one of the fungicides used that was causing a reaction. You have to experiment a bit to find out.
