Cat Allergy

My ds is 7 mo old, he recently started nursery and developed a cold pretty quickly which has been ongoing and still is, almost a month later. What I am wondering is - can it be a cat allergy? We have two house cats which didn't pose a problem prior to this cold. How would I know if it's the cats?

the problem is more likely that your ds has been exposed to lots of new bugs from the other children...whenever kids start to mix with others it happens!!! Just means that his immune system will get stronger

You could try an antihistamine like piriton syrup and see if ds gets better but to be honest it sounds more likely to be consistant bugs picked up from Nursery.

Feels like my DS has had a cold permanently for the last 18 months. An exaggeration but when u put them in nursery it's one illness after another until their immune system builds up...then get a few weeks break and then down with another one!

DD is 4yo and we recently got a cat. However she started to display cold like symptoms and this got more noticeable over a few days. After 5 days we called it quits - we let the cat go before we all had chance to get attached to her. We have since noticed this happen when we have visited family/frends with cats - in past have just thought she had a cold when she was visiting. Piriton liquid helped.

Cats are the biggest source of allergic reactions! Far more likely to be the cat than bugs from nursery. Also watch out for rabbits, horses and dogs with long hair not to mention house mites.
