dd2 (16months) has had mild scratching round her neck since birth but it was never anything serious enough to worry about. My friend suggested this weekend she might have a little bit of eczema which wouldn't be unlikely since dh has asthma

I know when she was little she was a bit allergic to different soap powders etc so I'm going to get some eco-balls; also wondering if I should use some different bath products and a moisturiser? (at present she gets shoved in with dd1 and her Groovy Chick bath stuff, which probably isn't the best thing)

any advice? it's only very, very mild, so I don't want to get carried away. I don't want to use anything full-on because I don't think she needs it. she's still partly breastfed so that should be good, right?

My LO is the same. You can buy a non-prescription cream at the chemist called DoubleBase. Very mild, and you can't use too much of it. We put it round DD's neck on itchy days and it provides a bit of relief. Is also a good barrier cream in the water, so if you were taking her swimming, put a little bit on beforehand. It's pretty mild.

oooh thanks. dh has gone out this morning to get some Aveeno after someone recommended it but I'll remember yours in case it doesn't work

sounds like a familiar story. dd's skin a million times better since...Surcare washing powder; Eumobase rehydration cream (with the E45 cream etc in bigger branches of Boots) and/or Aveeno. No bath bubbles.

Don't use any soap at all on her skin. If she needs serious cleaning, use aqueous cream (all chemists should stock this) as a soap substitute.
