Would this be a suitable milk for an 8mth old to have 1 or 2 bottles of a day? Ds2 has cmp allergy and my dd in hosp so I need to have somebody look after ds2 but as he is bf I can't at the moment.

I do also have neocate at home but it is for ds1 and dd2 so not sure if he should have it as its not prescribed for him.he has the alpro in porridge so I think he would drink it.

I'm a bit desperate as dd2 likely to be in hosp till at least next week (diagnosed with diabetes on mon) and we are having a difficult time with ds 2 with us all day every day but cannot leave him with anybody untill we can try him with bottles.

Should I use neocate or alpro 1+?

Sorry to hear about your DD. Your DS is maybe a wee bit young for the Alpro, so would probably give the neocate, but if it's only for a short time, I can't imagine giving him alpro for 1 feed or so a day would do much harm, particularly if he is eating solids well.

I'm just desperate to give him something I know he will drink he is used to the taste of alpro from his porridge and dd2 really needs all our attention it has been hard with ds2 there too.

He gets so fed up and the ward is so hot so he wants bf all the time but we are trying to learn to do the injections and its really stressful.if he could have a bottle and my mum could look after him for a few hours it would be a godsend.

I can imagine it's stressful Sad. For a few hours in your situation I would just give the alpro.

I think I might Iam worried he will pick up illnesses being there all day every day too they keep warning us a lot of the children are quite poorly but we havnt had the option of not taking him so I need to sort something out.

If I time it right he could probably have just 1 bottle of it then his lunch couple hours later and he would be ok without me for quite a while then hopefully.

Thanks for the advice

If you think about it babies can go 12 hours at night without any milk, a few hours will be fine with alpro and lunch. I think one of the beauties of breastfeeding is that it adapts to your babies needs so I'm sure your DS can make up for it when you next feed him.

Hope your DDis out of hospital soon.
