bad nappy, rash red random spots, bloated tummy, sleepless night like colic days. The Dr will not send for testing as there is no weight loss but we have kept her off dairy. My dd is just 15months :-\

Could be non-IgE cmp allergy. Has she always been like it? Was she bf or ff?

Valiant1 · 26/12/2012 20:45

Ff long story but has had reflux and VERY BAD nappy all her life until i put her on soya milk myself at four months. We keep trying milk in small doses but end up with a poorly tummy etc also has a bad chest when given milk

Well sounds like it. My ds2 has cmp (cows milk protein) and soya allergy, the non-IgE type. He was bf so only got dairy via what is eaten. He slept dreadfully, nappy rash, eczema, runny nose, bruised looking eyes. Once I cut dairy and soya out of my diet he was a different child (took 9 mths to get there though Confused )

There is no test for non-IgE allergies except elimination/symptom monitoring. Cut out all dairy for at least 2 weeks. I think something like 40% of children allergic to cmp are also allergic to soya so something else to consider. You can do this yourself but if ask gp to refer you to a Paed dietician to endure your dd is still getting all the nutrition she beefs, and to support you. Good luck, it's a bloody minefield but pretty clear results once you can pinpoint what's causing if.

Sorry, lots of typos! Hope you can figure it out .

Beefs?! Needs! Bloody autocorrect!

My DD, now 13 months has non IgE CMP, diagnosed at 6 months, symptoms were screaming and arching back on the breast, projectile vomiting after bottle of formula - GPs didn't want to know because she was gaining weight so after a few months of diet elimination, mine and hers, and a wonderful paediatrician who believes in mothers instinct we found out. She has been on Aptamil Pepti formula since 7 months old, tolerates soya fine but can't take any gluten. Otherwise has a very healthy diet and is thriving. Still very prone to nappy rash and poo's for England but all part of it apparently.

Keep going with elimination and if you see an improvement then looks like its probably the case. And trust your instinct because it'll probably be right!

Had the same problem with my dd at 4 months. Dr was a right pain after numerous visits finally saw the consultant she was prescribed nutramigen aa and it has helped loads. Her skin is clear and her poo is normal. You just have to be really persistent xxxSmile

Valiant, i am interested in the 'random red spots' as my ds has suffered with these and he has a diagnosed cmp and soya allergy. We didn't realise the spots were connected. His symptoms were reflux, terrible nappy rash (like open sores), explosive poos, terrible sleep. I'd advise cut soya too - when we gave ds soya he had even open sores all over his body.
For those who bf, you probably need to cut dairy from your diet too (sorry) for it to make an impact
