I've been cutting down on milk

yesterday DH got me a strawberry tart .. you know the kind with creme patisserie and whipped cream with the strawberries on top

I ate half and had a pang of feeling totally unwell

is that lactose reaction? is it possible to test for an actual issue

am still having milk in tea and bits of cheese and suffer no problems as such

maybe it was guilt? Grin

Perhaps the fact that you had cut down, and then had this dairy loaded treat just means your body over dosed on dairy?

How are you otherwise? I ask because you'd probably have diarrhoea if it was an intolerance.

Hi

If it were, your symptoms if like mine would be diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea and a feeling of disconnection: it does vary in some poeple though.

Could you have reacted to the berry?

I can't tolerate ANY cheese, and only a tiny amount of milk in tea

Twiglett · 03/04/2006 13:35

I seem to have ongoing diarrhoea unfortunately since od on antibiotics in Sept / Oct .. am acidopholus(ing) to restore my digestive tract

am fine with berries

this was like a pang of unwellness .. weird to describe .. like a cold sweat washed over me and I was fighting to regain control for 10 mins

That's interesting Peachy ds can have cheese but not cream or milk.

PutAPeachyInYourSimnelCake · 03/04/2006 17:42

I think lactose intol does manifest differently anyhow, as ds3 can have a little cheese but no milk. It may be that the cheese problem is related to the migraines I suffered as a child, as paediatric migraine can be similar in symptom.

The antibiotic od may have affected your ability to metabolise lactose, but the acidophillus should help if that's the case.

excellent . . thanks .. will steer clear for a couple more weeks

(btw when I say od .. I mean I took 6 different courses of abs within a 3 month period .. as I don't normally take anything that's an od to me)

Was wondering if you were feeling better?
