Can a child be allergic to one nut but still eat nuts from the same group?

I'm pretty sure almond is a tree nut (so sits with cashews, walnuts and the like). Dd had a tiny piece of almond and although she didn't have a major reaction, she did come out in hives and her lips went tingly/tiny bit swollen.

I'm just wondering whether it's possible that she ONLY has a reaction to almond and not the other nuts or whether a reaction to almond will mean avoiding all tree nuts.

(Dd had a fairly bad milk and soya allergy which she outgrew - she also had an egg allergy which I suspect she has outgrown but we have yet to go for further tests as we have been signed off by the paediatrician).

my ds is allergic to peanuts and cashew nuts but ok with others. You should have dd tested-they will be able to tell you exactly what nuts to avoid if any

I am allergic to walnuts, brazils, hazlenuts etc., but I can eat almond, peanut and coconut. Don't know if that helps or not!!
