Eczema - uncontrollable outbreak of itching

Sometimes when my DD gets in from school and other times she has a massive itching session. Clothes come off and she rips at her skin to stop the itching. She has incredibly dry skin and I use steroid creams and emollients - but I can't get them on her quick enough when she is ripping at herself. I use non bio washing liquid, she only wears cotton clothes, she wears trousers for school and I always buy really soft ones that do not irritate her skin.

Does anybody know or use anything when their children get these attacks. Her skin was looking beautiful until the other day when in about 2 minutes she had itched the backs of her knees so badly that they were bleeding.

Aveeno Cream stopped my sons excema totally - he was covered and itched constantly breaking the skin most of the time and getting it infected sometimes - is quite expensive and you have to out it on religeously but my son now has the same lovely skin that the rest of his friends have!!

Thanks for that Twinkie1. I do use Diprobase cream and Eumovate steroid cream religiously, have never been prescribed Aveeno cream before. I once bought Aveeno bath but it was like tar and left a massive black ring round the bath. I will suffer anything for my DD and her eczema - but this stuff was a nightmare. Do you get it prescribed or can it be bought over the counter? I need something for when the itches come on from nowhere - just a quick fix to make her more comfortable quickly. Do you think this would work in this scenario. Sorry loads of questions there!!!
