Stuffed up nose every morning

My 7yo ds has recently started to get a stuffy nose every morning upon waking. Ive also noticed that sometimes it starts as soon as he's been in bed after stories. We have a car but I've stopped the car from sleeping on his bed (after ds got bitten by fleas - cat now deflea-ed regularly with new stuff n house treated). I also bought him a new anti allergy pillow. Sheets washed weekly. Duvet been washed in last few months.

I've never had allergies so not sure what to do. Is it best to go to the dr n ask them to test. Or try something at home to de-allergy his room? But not quite sure what to do? Change bedding? Duvet? Remove fluffy floor rug? Remove bed under his bed? Is it just a case of trying everything by process of elimination? Is it worth giving piriton to check it is actually an allergy n not something else?

Thanks!

My DD had this and it was dust I think because after a massive clear out of her room and a de-allergy wash of all the things it improved a lot.

Carpets make my stuffy/runny nose worse, so if possible I would remove the rug, wash the curtains, give it a good hoover every day and a dust. I also try to air my bedroom every day. Teddies and fluffy toys are also dust havens, so I would remove or wash any that he may have and don't keep them on the bed.

I sometimes take a nasal spray if my nose is particuarly bad, but to be honest, I generally just live with it. It is annoying, but after several trips to the doctor as a child, teen and adult, and no solutions or testing etc, it is just something I put up with Sad You may have a more proactive doctor than me, though! If it becomes more severe with coughing/wheezing etc then I would definitely take him to be seen.

Yes to all above - but also check for any signs of mould or mildew - that can also cause problems.
