Soya Lecithin

I'm breastfeeding and currently avoiding dairy and soya due to suspected intolerance.

I'm avoiding products containing soya lecithin also and wondering if others in a similar situation are doing the same thing? I'm finding conflicting information when googling so not sure.

Hi ThisOnce
I'm also avoiding milk and soya and am avoiding soya lecithin. Basically, I'm cutting out any sort of milk or soy derivitive, just in case. Though I did eat some dark chocolate with soya in this evening, accidentally, so will see if it causes a reaction tomorrow!

It's such a pain isn't it, it's the soya lecithin that really limits the treat type things. I am probably better off without them but just feeling sorry for myself!

Will try that chocolate babybarrister!
This Once - I've lost a good 3 or 4 pounds since I gave up dairy and soy, so I can't complain too much! Even a lot of the Free From ranges contain soya.
We have been ok with the soya from last night so far... I just wish my referral would bloody come through for the dietician as I'm just plodding along on my own with this really and wanted to see someone before weaning in 3 weeks!

Hello there.

I'm not sure if this helps but my DD has multiple allergies including soya. I was also worried about having things with soya lecithin, but her allergist said that there have been some good studies into soya lecithin for soya allergic people and that this should be fine. DD wasn't on dairy until very recently as she couldn't tolerate it very well but can have it now so fingers crossed that your DC outgrow theirs too.

It's understandable that you want to be careful, but it might explain why you experienced no reaction after eating that chocolate Piggy.

Good Luck with your referral coming through soon too.

Thank you Babybarrister, will try that!

Piggy, I have been losing weight too but it seems to have screeched to a halt recently, damnit!

Mumat, that is really helpful, thanks!
