Experiences of wheat allergy and possible coeliac please

Ds2 had his skin prick test today (allergic to dairy, egg and sesame).
He was negative to cows milk (yay!) but I asked them to test for wheat and he reacted. We are waiting to hear but the nurses said we would be referred for blood tests for coeliac.
We recently went gluten free for a while at home and I noticed he used to have loose grim mushy poos on returning from grandparents who would feed him hot dogs for lunch.
I'm just wondering if anyone has tested positive to wheat skinprick and then gone on to test positive/negative for coeliac?? Or if it is likely to just be a mild wheat allergy.
He's nearly 3.
Oh, and when your Dcs get allergy tested - do they check a range of foods or just the foods they've reacted to? Up to now he's just been tested for the ones he's reacted to, but am wondering if I should have requested 'extra'!!!
Thanks :)

So far DS (5) has only been tested for things he was known to have reacted to (milk, wheat, eggs) with the addition of peanuts simply because it's such a common allergen plus DH is allergic to nuts. I'm very surprised that they are referring your DS for a coeliac blood test simply because he reacted to a skin prick test because to my knowledge there is no link between IgE allergies and coeliac disease. Maybe I'm totally wrong here but I really don't think coeliacs react to wheat in the same way as those with allergies do because it's an autoimmune disease that affects the bowel, not an allergy or intolerance (I also have a DD with coeliac disease). Having said that, there's absolutely no harm in getting your DS tested and I guess it's good they're being thorough.

Because there's such a strong family link with coeliac disease we've been advised that if DS ever outgrows his wheat allergy and starts eating it again we would then have to get him tested for coeliac disease. There's no point testing him at the moment because he doesn't really have any gluten in his diet and you have to be eating a certain amount of gluten every day for at least 6 weeks in order to get an accurate result.

Thanks freefrommum.

I'm hoping they do test him for coeliac, while we are still eating wheat - we have auto immune in the family and over the last couple of months ds2 has been displaying fatigue, grumpiness, easy bruising along with other random symptoms so I'd been on the verge of seeing the gp to request it an FBC anyway. Was just interested to know if any link!
