Thank you everyone - some good ideas here. I like the sound of Maz's chinese rice, and Eragon's bbq chicken. I can see everyone liking them.
I hadn't thought to use soya cream in cooking either - I've had it on puddings but not used it as an ingredient, so thank you. I made a nice chicken pie the other day, making the sauce as you would normally make a white sauce, but using vitalite, and half soya milk, half chicken stock. I discovered today that Aldi's ready rolled puff pastry is dairy free, so I might try some variations on this theme.
Otherwise, my staples are fairly standard - spag bol, meatballs, roasts, sticky salmon, casseroles, sausages etc etc.
Heliotrope, thanks for the thoughts on puddings too. I tend to be a bit rubbish at puds and usually give them fruit or a biscuit, but as they get older and bfeed less, they could probably use the calories of a proper pud. Soreen's banana or apple and sultana loaf go down well as puds, in case no-one has discovered them yet!
