Allergy that causes raised red bumps

My DS has a red rash of raised red bumps on his hip about 10cm by 10cm. The rash appeared yesterday and it hasn't spread yet. He had a similar rash early in the year around his neck annd it spread up to his ears, to his back and tummy which took over a week to clear up. I took him to the Doctors who said it possibly looked like an allergy to something. I put it down to a new washing powder with added fabric softener and changed back to my old powder. Someone advised me it could be a reaction to clothes tags (ie on the side of a top or around the neck) this could make sense but it seems to be so random as only 2nd time in 6 months. Does anyone have any other suggestions. I have tried googling but not coming up with anything - all the rashes on google images are terrifiying Shock. At the moment I am just giving him some Benedryl allergy elixir and some cream on the rash. It doesn't seem to bother him but I would love to find out what is causing it plus he insisits on showing everyone he meets his spots and I am sure people think I should not be leaving the house. Although I have him trained to say it is an allergic reaction Grin.

Thank you for reading my essay.

Without seeing it it's a bit difficult to say. Are the spots spread out or all together? My DS gets random red heat spots whenever he gets too warm. Could it be that?

Thanks for your answer. I have added a photo to my profile although it is hard to get a good one and it doesn't look as bad in the photo. As it isn't bothering him I suppose I shouldn't worry but would love to know what causes it. The Doctor said it could be 100s of things. I will cut all the tags out from now on just in case.

yes - that is a bit what my DS's heat rash looks like and it's usually concentrated around areas like the waist band of trousers where the skin gets most hot.

If it's not bothering him I wouldn't worry too much.
