The ideal present for an allergic child with eczema...

Not really...

PIL bought ds a soap colouring and moulding set for his 3rd birthday.

As he doesn't even have shampoo and even has to wash hair with diprobase this is a tasteless present, especially when you consider he is also allergic to food colourings.

Straight onto Ebay for that one.

Dh has read the ingredients and is going to ask his parents for the receipt.

He is concerned that if we just Ebay it he will get another present we can't let him use when he is 4 and be really upset when he notices it is missing.

thunk

And I thought my MIL was thoughtless - dd has mild eczema (used to be a lot worse, surely they must remember) and MIL gave dd a bubble bath with glitter in it and a huge warning that it must not be used on sensitive skin or children under 6.
Dd was rather upset at its sudden disappearance.

Your PIL definitely win the thoughtlessness award there.

Dh has asked his mother to take it back - and she has conceeded it was a terrible present. She was shopping with her sister and got carried away. This was in October though - how silly to buy something so far in advance when she had no idea what his interests would be by February.

How disappointing. Brings home the reality that they just don't "get it" doesn't it. Did you give them any ideas on what to replace it with???
