We are off to a wedding on Friday - flight early in the morning and then some dashing about before 2pm service; the reception goes on until midnight (although I doubt we will last until then..)

DDs are, between them, allergic to dairy, nuts, egg, sesame, mustard, white fish and avocado. After a lot of caffufle we have been allowed to take food to the wedding which helps BUT I will still have to prepare and take with us a snack for the airport/flight, quick lunch for when we land, food for the wedding lunch, snacks for the reception and something for the evening to allow us to stay on if we want to.

Just feeling sorry for myself really and imagining a world where you bought any old sandwich en route and ate what was provided at an event. How easy would that be.....

Oh temp I feel your pain! Wouldn't it be great to be able to do something spontaneous once a while without having to plan even the simplest trip down to the last second? I'm sure all the mums on this board can completely relate with your 'vent' even if the rest of the world doesn't have a clue! We're off on holiday soon and I can feel myself getting uptight about all the food and medication preparations already.

However, I'm sure it will all be worth it as it sounds like a lovely trip - I love weddings! Hope it all goes well and good luck :)

Thanks freefrom - good to be heard! I am sure it will be worth it - and I am determined not to stop doing fun things just because of allergies - but as you say most parents would have no clue what it adds to a simple trip...

Yes, it is such a drag having to take food everywhere you go. I do understand where you are coming from with that.

Yesterday DS decided he wanted to go to the museum. We had no particular plans, and it seemed like a good idea. As I hastily prepared a big bag full of lunch for three, I couldn't help thinking how lovely it would be to just grab a sandwich in town instead.

Hope you have a lovely time at the wedding and that your journey is hassle-free Smile

Thanks greenbananas - hope the museum was worth the faff. I feel better after my vent!

Hi Tempnameswap

I've been feeling really down about this recently too. I sometimes wish we could just go out and not always have to worry about food. We are always late leaving as a result of having to cook before we can go anywhere. I wanted to go to IKEA today to return some things and I would have loved to have gone early in the day but couldn't until after lunch and then it was a bit of a mad dash to get back before tea. If I had had to take food with me, then we would have been even more late leaving.

So, as freefrommum says, I feel your pain too. We are so housebound as a result of this which is such a shame. I also think the fact that I am NOT a good cook at all doesn't really help as everything takes me ages to cook.

I hope you have a lovely time at the wedding.

Freefrommum, hope you have a lovely holiday. We're going in August and I find myself thinking about what I need to do before we go. I have to stop myself. We only drive as I'm too much of a scaredy cat to get on a plane. In some ways thats worth as I always end up taking as much as I can with me.

greenbanana's hope the museum was worth it. doing anything spontaneously would be great so I hope you all had a great day out.

Big hugs to everyone in the same position.
xx

Mumat39 - your pain is felt too! Everything takes monumental planning doesn't it? Part of the problem for us is that my 2 are hungry so frequently and eat so much that nipping out without food/a plan for food isn't really an option. Unless you are happy to deal with hunger related meltdown!

Anyway off now to buy a load of snacks for all eventualities, before packing the oat milk and other liquids in hold luggage and the rest in hand!!

Feeling the pain too! Especially as Baby has been ill, off her usual foods and so even more difficult to feed than normal.
