Or anyone who know of a good website/blog/forum that I could try?

I've tried allergyUK and googled lots of phrases but haven't come up with that much. Just need some advice about what might or might not be ok foodwise.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying Sluttybuttons.

I actually found some more info on rapeseed oil and it makes for interesting reading. Some of it makes me wonder why do we even have rapeseed oil in foods or any refined oil Confused

I often get things a bit confused so I'm sure this is the same.

Fingers crossed there is someone out there in MNland who can help me.

:)

I can't help but where we have just moved to is surrounded by fields of it. All of our noses are streaming and I get very painful headaches. I am bfeeding DS so I can't take any allergy medication apparently. It has got a bit better since the rain eased off for some reason.

Someone told me that if I bought rapeseed oil to cook with it would help ease the symptoms but I don't know if that is true or just an old wives tale.

reddaisy, that sounds really difficult.

I live just outside london but do suffer with hayfever and it is miserable so I do feel for you :(

I remember when I was pregnant with my DD and also couldn't take anything for it. There are some products out there, which might be helpful. One thing I tried was something called haymax which is a balm which you rub onto your nostrils and it's supposed to 'catch' the pollen before it gets in. It's made from beeswax so I think it is ok to use in pregnancy. The other thing that I got that worked really well was a medinose, which is a gadget with two probes (sounds worse than it is) that you place into your nostrils for about 5 minutes. When you switch it on, the probes emit a red light which is apparently at the right frequency to help desensitise the nose so it reacts less to the pollen. I find it really helps me. I still use mine every year and have hardly needed antihistamines. Lloyds Pharmacy also sell their own version which didn't exist when I bought mine but it's alot cheaper and iirc about £14.

I don't know about the rapeseed oil to ease the symptoms. I did read some stuff today about the cooking fumes not being so good for you but as I said above, I'm often confused about what I read and sometimes get the wrong end of the stick. Confused

I hope you're symptoms ease up soon as you get used to being in close proximity to the fields.
