Poor DD is desperate. Can anyone recommend treatment (oh, and an air purifier) for hay fever please?

DD(11) is really suffering, and we can't seem to get on top of it.

Any advice welcome Smile

what have you done so far?

Hello Grimbles

I've just posted a really long reply to another person with a DS who is suffering with bad hayfever. Here. I hope this is helpful.

The usual antihistamines combined with eye drops . Plus always shower and wash hair when she gets in at night to remove all traces of pollen and avoid getting it on her pillow.Happinose or Haymax balm rubbed inside nostrils whenever she goes out to form a barrier between her and the pollen . I have found both to help a lot.

I met someone cured of really severe hayfever by one session of acupuncture

Sorry I disappeared, and thanks for the replies.

mumat39, lots of helpful stuff, and the nose thing sounds interesting, I'll definitely follow that one up.

eragon, it's all been a bit shambolic really and we need a proper routine. She has an antihistamine in the morning (asda, loratidine) but we don't always remember and she says she doesn't feel it helps. That's about it really. We've not had any firm answers from the gp and the asthma nurse pretty much shrugged her shoulders, and it's only really this year that we've decided it is hayfever and not just a long-running snotty cold.

I feel so sorry for her, it just goes on and on. She also gets headaches and nausea. She's got a chesty cough, is that hayfever, asthma or a cold? I just don't know any more, and it seems the health professionals we've seen don't either.
