cotton sheets help mine, never tried silk though

It's for DP.

We have cotton. I'm paranoid about washing them but his skin is terrible atm.

I have used cotton comfort eczema clothing with 'silver soothe' in the fabric for my DD (age nearly 4 now). We have bought the sleep suits with hands and feet enclosed and buttons up the back. Not sure how much the 'silver soothe' has helped or not as she generally has bandages underneath the suit as well. They do have adult size things too.
Not tried the silk sheets, we use 100% cotton and wash them regularly plus use matress protector that totally encloses the matress.

Eczema = bloody nightmare.

Thanks Greencyber - that's exactly the sort of info I was looking for! He's in so much pain/itch with it - we do have a mattress protector but I was just looking for something else to try - I feel so sorry for him.

And yes. Bloody nightmare is right.

We live in a hard water area and DS1 has very bad eczema, but on holiday for 10 days in Wiltshire over Easter it cleared right up. We're looking into getting a water softener fitted to our water supply.

We were using colour catchers in the wash and they seemed to be contributing to the problem, never occurred to me that they contained chemicals. Doh.

Aarrgghhh the itch is unbearable for me to watch with my DD so I totally feel your pain.

Have you heard about 'dermasilk' clothes (google for website). I phoned them and they were quite helpful. V v v expensive but apparently some places you can get these things on prescription. Again we didn't have much success with the suits but I think it was because DD's skin was in such a bad condition at the time, I reckon if you can get condition better it might be maintained by the suit material.

Does your DP get any help from a Dermatology Department? - my experience is only with my little one but they have been helpful and are a least some support when things are really bad. I would hope they are helpful for adults too.
