Allergy novice where do I start

Dd 11 months seems to be reacting to tomatoes, egg and maybe cheese.
Family history on DH side of atopicness
BIL severe asthma
DH atopic eczema and hay fever.

So knew DD might be unlucky on this front.
Thing is I have no experience of allergies and no clue when to worry and when not - so far all reactions seem quite minor - though frequent- one time her legs were very blotchy ,red, - possibly like hives - but never itchy.
She has a few bits that look like controlled eczema - not inflamed or angry though.
Been using oilatum in bath - and after - and only bath her 2-3 times a week.

Anyway what I need to know is - do I need to take her to gp and get tests etc - or if she is ok in herself do I just keep going as I am. I haven't actually banished tomatoes from her diet - as the reaction is typically mild - is that really stupid of me?!

Have sort of been in denial but obviously don't want to do anything to cause her discomfort.

Long post sorry ... TIA

It might be best to go the GP for testing.
This will help you by letting you know both what to avoid and also how serious the allergies are.
Although they may not be life-threatening, they can be uncomfortable for her and it would be kind to avoid the allergens.

In the meantime, you should avoid giving her the foods that you think might be reacting.
You don't need to worry, but you would be helping your DD by finding out about her condition and learning about how to manage it.

Also keep a detailed food diary. What your DD ate and also put in any skin issues, exploding poo's etc ...

Yes thanks makes sense - I Didn't mention she is at nursery 3 days and the worst reactions have been from food there. ( apartbfrom egg) Makes diary a bit harder but am sure they will have dealt with this before. think testing would be easiest way forward just not sure how readily it is available via gp.

Appreciate your responses - it is hard to summarise on here !

I would def go to the GP and ask for a referral to a paediatric allergy consultant. (GPs aren't always very clued-up on allergies, eczema etc.) The trouble is that the more you are exposed to an allergen, the worse the reaction can get so it really is better to look into it now.

My 3yr old is at nursery and I found nursery to be very supportive. They used to write down all he ate ( now they just verbally tell me). They are also great at my inquisition on what his poo's were like as exploding poo and vomit seem to be his signs of a problem.

They have slipped up twice (in 18 months) and given him dairy, but I don't let them see I am upset/cross cos' tbh I have also slipped up or nearly slipped up. I want them to tell me the truth and I am worried they might not be as upfront if they know they face a cross mummy.

Talk to nursery about your concerns. Get them to help you and your child. I know nursery helped me indentify it was dairy that was trigger. They will have experienced similar children.

Thanks am going to head to gp on Monday and then talk to nursery
They are great but haven't really mentioned any of the reactions which has perhaps contributed to me thinking perhaps I was worrying needlessly.
Anyway definitely don't want to risk reactions getting more severe so will get on the case now.
