Allergy show

Has anybody been to the allergy show? Considering making the journey from Yorkshire to London to visit (ds has multiple food allergies and eczema). Is it going to be worth the effort of a very long day? Or is it just a lot of companies trying to sell stuff?

dont forget to still read all labels on food. just because its at the allergy show dont assume 'free' means free iyswim.

lots of allergens there, btw.

best stalls to see are the anaphylaxis campaign and allergy uk. and the hospital allergy clinic stalls.

avoid the allergy testing stalls.

have fun! some of the freebies are worth having. The presentations are good as well!

I've been and I'm going again this year. There are loads of companies selling stuff, but also loads and loads of freebies (I'm taking my shopping trolley this year and my friend's taking a suitcase on wheels). Plus talks/seminars all day on different subjects, cooking demo's, and everyone is happy to stand and talk to you about their products.

And there is dairy-free chocolate, with free tasters. I'd go for that alone!

Forgot to mention - make sure you get the free tickets from their website before you go.

Yes, would have expected there still to be allergens as finding things that exclude all of ds allergens is extremely difficult at times. Interesting about the hospital allergy clinic being there.
Thanks mmmcoffee (great name btw) didn't know about the free tickets. I am partial to a good freebie Grin

I'm planning to go for the first time this year too. Maybe we should wear our orange capes so that we recognise each other Grin

Grin I think if I remember correctly our dcs have similar allergies so no doubt we would be at the same stands.

Should we all carry bags of pombears?

I'm going to the Liverpool one - hoping for lots of gluten-free goodies Grin

Go on a friday if you can, saturday was crazy busy! Especially if you have a buggy with you.

I found it not as useful as I'd hoped for multiple allergies. Loads of stalls for coeliacs/wheat/gluten free. I found the seminars and anaphylaxis campaign stand and support group really useful. But I did discover some doves farm cereals that had just become nut free when chatting to the guys in the stall. Liz Allen from the cake crusader will be there again and she makes cakes suitable for multiple allergies, and she's very friendly.

Definitely get the free tickets from their website. Have fun! :)

Thanks bb, that was what I was concerned about. These shows always attract a certain level of useless new/niche products and I imagined that the way allergies/intolerances have been becoming more widely acknowledged it has attracted a good amount of these.
