Anyone have any experience of paraffin allergy in eczema?

I seem to have become more and more sensitive to paraffin the last couple of years. Currently having a massive allergic reaction after using Fucibet cream last week, which contains paraffin. Been to GP this morning and asked him to refer me to a dermo for patch testing. It's a complete PITA though - I have eczema which is usually under control but need a steroid at the moment and the only 2 that seemingly don't have paraffin in them are Eumovate and Dermovate. Grrr. Does anyone have the same thing and how do you get on with it?

I'm fine with fucibet and haven't used dermovate for well over 2 years as mine has sudden;y (age 34) been under control.

I never even considered being allergic to paraffin and vaseline is the only thing I can guarantee won't aggravate my skin and that will allow it to heal. I use it on my lips multiple times per day.

Could there something else (urea?) that is causing the allergy?

I'd ask for apatch test though.

Fucibet contains antibiotic so could it be that perhaps?

I'm 99% sure it's paraffin, as it seems to be the only constant. I can't use vaseline etc either. Google tels me a paraffin allergy is not that unusual, but just wondered how other people cope with eczema as the medical profession seem unable to offer anything that isn't paraffin based!
Have appt with dermo next week, hopefully something should come to light then.

Does pure shea butter have it in? That's also good for me.Smile

Yes, me too! I have been making my own moisturiser, inspired by an old thread on here. That is working well, but the problem is finding something to deal with flare ups now.

For flare ups, tbh, I would go straight for Dermovate. It heals mega quickly and I know it's the strongest steroid on the scale but it works very fast so you don't have prolonged use.

I only ever needed to use it for a max of two days and then back to vaseline/shea butter.

I found out over a year ago due to being admitted into a and e that I have a paraffin allergy, I also have excema and I'm going through a bad bout of it, I was applying calamine cream and e45 but it seemed to make it worse and more angry, is there anything I can do or use that isn't paraffin based or contains any paraffin at all??!!!
