baby barrister or anyone with cmp/soya allergic DCs: experience of Neocate Spoon?

Saw Gastro Consultant and dietician this afternoon in a combined appointment (brilliant! Grin) and suggested Neocate Spoon. DS was on Neocate Nutra before it was withdrawn from UK market and was thriving on it.

Any experience?

Sorry no, I'd never heard of either til now so just googled and was amazed that such a thing existed! My DS is 4 & 1/2 and still on Neocate Active as his milk replacement but we were never offered Nutra as a weaning supplement. From what I've read, Spoon is very similar to Nutra but can't seem to find out exactly what the difference is or why Nutra was withdrawn. Hopefully some of the other MNers on here will know more.

My understanding from the dietician at Children's Hospital is that Neocate Nutra was withdrawn from the UK market because some people were using it as a formula rather than a supplement. DS, almost 4, is also still on Neocate Advance.

Am ridiculously excited about Neocate Spoon and am waiting to pick up prescription from GP. Smile

The gastro consultant is now saying that we shouldn't bother with another challenge for a year and will need to be as an inpatient Sad Sad

Was really hoping to get sorted out before he started school in September...

My DS2 is allergic to CMP and soya, but we went straight from breast milk to fortified oat milk. Should I be asking about Neocate Spoon to use as a supplement then?

ChocaMum · 25/02/2012 11:38

Sorry this is such a late reply, newborn baby means I haven't been on here for a while.
We use neocate spoon and we were told it's the same thing as neocate nutra which was withdrawn but is now available again. The mango flavoured one is yummy! And the unflavoured one we mix with a juice of dd's choice and we call it yoghurt because it has a similar consistency, and it's something she knows all her little friends eat.

Likeaninjanow oat milk is only suitable from the age of 2. Most milk subs are the same. Suggest you see the Dr if DS2 is under 2.

Ah, I don't think he needs it then. He was BF till 2 then straight to oat milk, and is now 4. I thought this was like a vit supplement or something. Thanks!
